Richard Lee Schroeder, age 75, of Willmar, passed away Monday morning, April 12, at Bethesda Grand in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 21, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Interment with military honors will be at a later date at Calvary Lutheran Cemetery in Willmar. Arrangements are with the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. www.petersonbrothers.com
Richard was born on April 25, 1945, in Appleton, Minnesota, the son of Everett and Vivian (Christenson) Schroeder. He grew up and received his education in Appleton. In 1962, Richard was married to Judy Behrens. They lived in Appleton and Willmar before getting divorced. In 1973, Richard was married to Joyce Johnson. They lived in South Dakota, Texas, Nebraska and Iowa before moving to Willmar. In 1984, Joyce passed away. In 1986, Richard was married to Peggy Clatt and they made their home in Minneapolis and Appleton before getting divorced. Richard worked for many years as a security guard for the Upper Sioux Agency at Fire Fly and Prairies Edge Casino, retiring in 2014. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool, pow wow’s and socials with family and friends.
He is survived by one son, Dan (and Patti) Schroeder of Spicer; four daughters, Konni Rodriguez of Renville, Beth Fitcher of Appleton, Rhonda (and John) Peters of Atwater, Jayme Jackson of St. Cloud; nineteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Jodi Schroeder of Redwood Falls and one sister-in-law, Renate Schroeder of North Carolina, besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; his parents, Everett and Vivian; one brother, Keith and a son, Mark.
