Bob was born on April 3, 1938, in Gilchrist Township, Pope County, Minnesota, the son of Robert and Geoline (Hollen) Halls, the youngest of eight children. He attended country schools and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1956. On Feb. 16, 1957, Bob was united in marriage to Carol Grundseth. They lived in the Twin Cities where Bob worked, accident free, for 46 years, retiring in 2003. For 38 years, he prepared "the farm" near Brooten for their retirement. His full time living there was short but full of joy. He loved driving his tractors, mowing his large lawn, going on walks or just sitting outdoors watching nature. Bob enjoyed 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, woodworking...often making many different things for his family, and spending time with his grandchildren. His family and friends loved to see Bob's boyish grin when he was having fun. Before joining South Lake Johanna Lutheran Church, he was a member of Valley of Peace Lutheran Church in Golden Valley.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Carol; three sons, Tony (and Marie) Halls of Brooten, Dean (and Karen) Halls of Indianola, Iowa and Todd Halls of Sauk Rapids; one daughter, Diane (and Neil) Knickerbocker of Kimball; seven grandchildren, Jason, Kari (and Scott), Adam (and Jen) Aaron, Morgan, Nicole and Nyssa and three great grandchildren, Austin, Aiden and Sawyer. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph (and Eunice) Halls and Norris (and Hazel) Halls and other relatives and friends.
