Robert E. Holden, 78, of Spicer, died Saturday, December 15, at Glen Oaks Care Center in New London.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 21, at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer. Interment will be at Ebenezer Lutheran Cemetery in Kandiyohi at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.
Robert was born February 8, 1934, in Tracy, Minnesota, the son of Vernon and Aldora (Engen) Holden. He grew up and received his education in Tracy, Minnesota, graduating from Tracy High School in 1953. He married Virginia Hewett on October 29, 1955 in Tracy. Robert worked various jobs while attending college. He graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Education from Bemidji State in 1976. He taught English at several high schools in Minnesota. He obtained his Masters Degree in Education from Mankato State in 1986. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed attending their sporting events and activities.
He is survived by his sons, Timothy Holden of Lake Lillian and Michael (and Patricia) Holden of Spicer; four grandchildren, Heather (and Darren) Goodall, Heidi Holden, Lance Holden and Austin Holden; eight great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virginia in 1993; his brother: Clinton Holden; and a nephew, Chuck Holden.
