Robert A. Paulson, age 78, of Atwater, passed away from this life on Wednesday morning, April 22, at Bethesda Club Suites in Willmar
A private interment will be held at Union Cemetery in Atwater. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date at the Refuge Church in Willmar following the COVID-19 pandemic. Memorials are preferred to Atwater Area Help For Seniors Program or the Refuge Church are preferred. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. www.petersonbrothers.com
Robert Arnold Paulson was born May 5th, 1941 to Arnold and Irene (Martine) Paulson in Willmar, Minnesota. He attended Atwater Public Schools and graduated in 1959. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves for six months following high school and served one year during the Berlin Crisis. He was employed at Super Sweet Feeds and then SeeCo Feeds, Inc. in Willmar, Minnesota for 17 years. He starting milking Milking Shorthorns and raising Yorkshire pigs at the family farm near Atwater, Minnesota.
In 1961, he married Betty Brown. They had three children. They were members of the former Atwater Baptist Church where he professed his faith. He had several loves in his life -- 4-H, County Fairs and the Minnesota State Fair which he and his family took part and enjoyed. He loved being a 4-H Leader and coaching the 4-H softball teams for the yearly 4-H Field Day. He was active with the Kandiyohi County Pork Producers.
He took great pride in his lawn mowing job at Island Pine Golf Course in Atwater where he worked for over 10 years. His daily routine started with a trip to the local convenience store for early morning coffee and chatter. And then there was his unfailing love for his farm, milk cows and horses. The winter months of his later years were spent in his shop reviving old horse equipment. His yearly highlight was to attend the Waverly Midwest Horse Sale & Auction in Waverly, Iowa.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty of Atwater; three children, Cheryl Paulson of Eden Prairie, Jeffrey (and Tammie) Paulson of Atwater and John (and Theresa) Paulson of Paynesville; four grandchildren, Morgan, Matthew, Eric and Drew. Also surviving are two sisters, Eunice Amos of St. Peter and Donna (and Marlan) Berg of Pipestone, besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
