Robert Schow

Robert D. Schow, age 80, of Willmar, died Saturday morning, Dec. 1, at his home following an extended illness.
A memorial service will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, December 6, at the United Methodist Church in Willmar with Rev. Chad Gilbertson officiating. Interment will be in Lake Andrew Cemetery in rural New London. Military Honors will be provided by Austin F. Hanscom American Legion Post 167 of Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Robert "Bob" Douglas Schow was born September 9, 1927, in Holland Township, to Carter and Grace (Molenaar) Schow. He attended Blomkest Elementary School and Morris Agriculture School graduating in 1947. He enlisted in the Navy and served on the U.S.S. Copahee. He married Betty Larsen on November 27, 1949, in Willmar. They lived in Minneapolis where Bob attended Dunwoody Institute. They moved to Northfield where he worked at DeMann Motors. In 1951 they moved back to Willmar working for Sears Roebuck for 16 years. He started farming southwest of Blomkest in 1962, and continued farming with his sons until 2005, retiring because of ill health. They moved back to Willmar in 1978. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Masons, the Zuhrah Shrine Club, and the American Legion Post 167 in Willmar. Bob and Betty enjoyed vacationing in Pharr, Texas, during the winter for 25 years.
He is survived by his wife; sons: Reggie (and Peggy) Schow and Nathan (and Kris) Schow, all of Blomkest, and son-in-law, Jeff Duke of Spicer, 8 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Carol Lyon of Seward, Nebraska, a brother Ken (and Bev) Schow of Woodbury, and sister-in-law, Deloris Schow of Willmar. He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother Russell, and daughter Renee in June 2005.
