Roger D. Chancellor, age 65, of Atwater, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning, April 14, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
A private family funeral service will be held at a later date in Iowa.
Roger Dean Chancellor was born on June 15, 1949, in Osage, Iowa, the son of Richard and Mary (Kruessel) Chancellor. He grew up in St. Ansgar, Iowa, graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1967 and then graduated from Hawkeye Tech in 1970. On September 13, 1969, Roger was united in marriage to Kathy Marie Koster and to this union were born two daughters, Kristine Marie and Tara Lynn. In 1970, Roger became employed as a convenience store supervisor in the communities of Waterloo and Mason City, Iowa and later in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 1992, after retiring, Roger and Kathy moved to the place they loved the best, Diamond Lake. He was recently working part-time as a driver for Mills Auto and Schweiters Chevrolet. Roger's hobbies included fishing, ice fishing and riding his side-by-side ATV. He enjoyed being with his family and friends. Roger always had a wise remark for everyone.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Kathy of Atwater; two daughters, Kristine Fischer of Montrose and Tara (and Greg) Stassen of Ames, Iowa; five grandchildren, Brandon (and Amanda), Allyson and Cole Fischer, Bryce and Breanna Stassen; and his mother-in-law, Lanita Koster of St. Ansgar, Iowa, besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Darwin Koster.
