Roger Lee Pechacek, age 43, of Mankato, died unexpectedly Saturday morning, June 12, at his residence in Mankato. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 16, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to ther service at the funeral home on Wednesday.
Roger was born on July 25, 1966, in Willmar, Minnesota, the son of Sherman and Patricia (Pederson) Pechacek. He attended the Minnesota School for Deaf and Blind in Faribault, Minnesota from the age of six to twenty-one. While attending school there, Roger learned to walk and acquired many life skills.
Following his schooling, Roger moved to Mankato, Minnesota where he lived in a group home with three other men. He worked at MRCI, Highland site, while he lived in Mankato. A perfectionist at heart, it may have taken awhile to get the jobs done, but they were done perfectly!
Roger loved to swim and play hand held electronic games. He also enjoyed working on the computer and attending dances. One of his favorite things was walking with staff to the neighborhood DQ for a treat. He was loved by his family, friends, and caregivers.
He is survived by his parents, Sherman (and Arlene) Pechacek of Willmar and Patricia (and Edwin) Hadder of Colorado Springs, CO.; one sister, Ronna (and Tim) Hoglund of Colorado Springs, CO., and his grandmother, Lorraine Pechacek of Willmar, besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Siguard and Maxene Pederson and William Pechacek.
