Rolf Tryvge Arnesen, age 86 of Willmar and formerly of Spicer, died Saturday morning, Feb. 10, at Bethesda Pleasantview Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, Feb. 14, at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer. Interment will be in the Spicer City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. on Tuesday, Feb. 13, at the Green Lake Funeral Home in Spicer.
Rolf Tryvge Arnesen was born on October 4, 1920, in Spicer, MN., the son of Thorvold and Karoline (Langord) Arnesen. He grew up and received his education in the Spicer community and was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Spicer. From 1937 to 1940, he began working at C.C. camps and then worked one year for Everson Construction, building grain elevators. In February of 1942, Rolf enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in the Pacific until January of 1946, when he was honorably discharged. Rolf then served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1946 to 1957. On January 10, 1948, he was married to Marie Bakke. He continued construction and contracting work until 1954 when be became employed at the Willmar State Hospital, retiring from there in 1984 as Physical Plant Director, after 30 years of service. Marie died in 1956. On October 1, 1957, he was married to Irma Allinder and they made their home in Spicer. Rolf was the first Commander of the American Legion Post in Spicer and the first County Commander of Kandiyohi County. He was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church and life member of the V.F.W. and American Legion Posts.
He is survived by his wife, Irma of Willmar; one daughter, JoAnn Brichacek of Maplewood, two grandchildren, Lisa and Joel, one sister, Mildred Jordin of Spicer and several nieces and nephews, besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; an infant son; two sisters, Helen and Marian, and five brothers, Henry, Ted, Casper, Oscar and Carl.
