Ronald Hanson

February 25, 1930 — June 22, 2006

Ronald Loren Hanson, age 76, of Willmar and formerly of Sunburg, died Thursday evening at the Infinia Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Monday, June 26, at the East Norway Lake Lutheran Church with Rev. Wayne Kopitzke officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. on Sunday, June 25, at the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Ronald was born on February 25, 1930, in Willmar, the son of Arthur and Ellen (Wickstrom) Hanson. He grew up in the Willmar community, was baptized and confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church and graduated fro Willmar High School. From 1952 to 1954, Ronald served in the U.S. Army, being stationed in Germany. Following his discharge, he lived in Missouri. On December 23, 1955, he was married to Phyllis Templer. They lived in Kansas City, MO., and in Pleasant City, MO., where he worked at the General Motors plant and was engaged in farming. In March of 1973, they moved to a farm near Sunburg where he continued farming. He was also employed at Kerkhoven Ford and Prentice Trucking, driving gravel trucks. Ronald retired in 1999 and this past year they moved into Willmar. He enjoyed going to auctions and flee markets and helping others in need.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Willmar; one sister, Elda (and Richard) Nelson of Willmar; two brothers, Wayne Hanson of Willmar and Dennis Hanson of Jackson, besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Arlow and an infant sister, Shirley Ann.
