Ronald D. Ronning, age 79, of Willmar and formerly of Raymond, died Friday, December 30, at Bethesda Grand in Willmar.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. Interment will be at a later date at Fairview Cemetery in Raymond. Visitation will be from at 12 noon until the time of service on Thursday at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.
Ronald Dale Ronning was born on October 20, 1937, in Raymond, Minnesota, the son of Irvin M. and Hattie L. (Bestge) Ronning. He grew up in Raymond and graduated from Raymond High School in 1955 and the earned his Draftsman degree from Dunwoody Institute in 1957. On July 10, 1957, Ronald was united in marriage to Jane Marie Kamstra and they made their home in the Raymond community. Ronald was self-employed as a carpenter building pole barns all across Minnesota and South Dakota. He was a long time member of the Raymond United Methodist Church and served as a trustee, usher and was active cooking the smelt at the annual church smelt fry. Ronald loved hunting, fishing and being in the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Jane of Willmar; four children, Lonnie (and Jean) Ronning of Minneapolis, Michele (and Terry) Albers of Willmar, Todd Ronning of Raymond and Kristina (and Mark) Peterson of Sartell; four grandchildren, Nathan, Trisha, Megan and Janey and two great grandchildren, Jax and Jett. Also surviving are three brothers, Jerry (and Sharon) Ronning of Minneapolis, Randy (and Joyce) Ronning of New London and Mike (and Jeanine) Ronning of Minneapolis and two sisters, Janelle Corwin of Arizona and Renaee (and Doug) Magnuson of Willmar, besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Roger Ronning and one grandson, Justin Albers in October of 2016.
