Ronald Snavely

Ronald L. Snavely, age 67, of Pennock, died unexpectedly Thursday morning, Dec. 1, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 5, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 5, at the Benton County Cemetery in Sauk Rapids. Arrangements are with the Peterson Brothers Atwater Funeral Home.

Ronald Liegh Snavely was born on August 3, 1944, in St. Cloud, Minnesota, the son of Liegh and Margaret (Thurber) Snavely. He grew up and received his education in St. Cloud. In 1964, Ronald was married to Lorina Goman and together they had one son. Later he moved to Atwater where he was baptized and confirmed as an adult on October 5, 1975 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. On November 5, 1977, Ronald was married to Lila Schwartz in Atwater. He was employed for the Minnesota DNR in Spicer, Jennie-O Foods, Goodyear Tire and the Kandi-Works. Ronald enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, drawing and playing cards and bingo.

He is survived by his ex-wife, Lila of Atwater; one daughter, Rhonda Garcia of Atwater; three sons, Scott (and Missy) Kern of Wadena, James Schwartz of Atwater and Jason (and Stacey) Schwartz of Pennock; five grandchildren, Rose Snavely, Kimberly and Gavin Garcia and Jordan and Ashley Kern; one sister, JoAnn Baumgart of Sauk Rapids; one brother, Roy (and Linda) Snavely of Osseo and three nephews, besides other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Norman Ziemmer and a brother-in-law, Bruce Baumgart.
