Rossie Crute, age 98, of Willmar, formerly of Independence, Missouri, died Sunday, Feb. 6, at Rice Memorial Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 P.M., Friday, February 18, at the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. Burial was in the Mount Washington Cemetery in Independence on Feb. 12. Memorials are preferred to the Memorial Fund at the First Presbyterian Church in Independence, MO.. Local arrangements are with the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.
Rossie Nell (Locke) Crute was born on June 11, 1912 at Deepwater, Missouri, the daughter of Robert Dana and Norma Leah (McDonald) Locke. She grew up in Carthage and Clinton, Missouri and obtained her education in Clinton and Eureka, Kansas. On June 15, 1938 she married Robert Scott Crute and they were blessed with three children; Beverly, Alan and Virginia. She worked at Continental Oil, American Can Company, Journal Post Newspaper, Montgomery Wards and for the Federal Government in Kansas City in the offices of the Corps of Engineers and Social Security. She retired in 1978.
Rossie enjoyed dancing, playing the piano, collecting dolls, traveling, going to Sunday School at the "Kum Join Us" class at First Presbyterian Church in Independence, participating in the Menninger Bible study classes, reading her NARFE magazines and enjoying her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by three children; Rev. Dr. Beverly Crute of Willmar, MN, Alan (and Rhonda) Crute of Leavenworth, Kansas and Dr. Virginia (and Neil) Magnus of Medford, New Jersey. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Kristen Angele (Crute) Berg, Scott Crute, Laurisa (and Phil) Duba, Christina Magnus and Analisa Magnus, five great grandchildren; Joey Franke, Kristopher, Matthew, and Daniel Berg and Leah Mae Duba, one sister; Rosemary Clements of Buena Park, California and nephew Rick (and Phyllis) Clements of Suisun City, California.
Rossie was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Robert Crute), one sister (Elsie Mae Alverson) and one brother (Robert Donald Locke).
