Roy Campbell

June 12, 1950 — April 23, 2017



Roy Campbell, age 66, of Litchfield and formerly of Willmar and Montevideo, died Sunday, April 23, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.


Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, at Bethel Lutheran Church Chapel. Military honors are provided by the Willmar American Legion Post #167. Interment will be at Sunset Cemetery in Montevideo. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Roy Campbell was born on June 12, 1950, in Elkins, West Virginia, the son of Chester and Delta (Butcher) Campbell. He grew up and received his education in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1968, Roy enlisted in the U.S. Army and served overseas in Viet Nam. On January 13, 1971, Roy was married to Linda Kay Wallace. They lived throughout Maryland and Minnesota. Roy was employed as a OTR truck driver hauling freight. In 2006, he retired due to health reasons and they moved to Willmar. In 2014, they moved to Litchfield. Roy was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar and the American Legion Post. Roy enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, painting and puzzles. He was also an avid sports fan of the MN Twins.


He is survived by his loving wife, Linda of Litchfield; two children, Christopher (and Jonni) Campbell of New Hope and Lisa (and James) Herzberg of Willmar; four grandchildren and one brother, Robert (and Terri) Campbell of Bullock, NC., besides other relatives and friends.


He was preceded in death by his parents.
