Royce W. Day, age 86, of Raymond, died Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 26, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Monday, March 3, at the First United Methodist Church in Raymond. The interment will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Raymond. Military Honors will be provided by the Austin F. Hanscom American Legion Post #167 of Willmar. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. with a Public Masonic Service at 7 P.M. on Sunday, March 2, at the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and also for one hour prior to the service at the church. Royce Waldo Day was born on March 7, 1927, in Raymond, Minnesota, the son of Waldo and Ina (Russell) Day. He grew up in Raymond, was baptized and confirmed at the Raymond United Methodist Church and graduated from Raymond High School. Royce served in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II. Following his discharge, he attended Hamline College for 2 years and then graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Business Administration. On June 7, 1950, in Redwood Falls, Royce was united in marriage to Adrian Donna Lou Henke. In 1955, they moved to Raymond where Royce worked as an insurance agent and district sales manager for Milbank Insurance Company, retiring in 1989.
Royce was a life member of the First United Methodist Church of Raymond, member of the Raymond American Legion Post, a 50 year member of the Sharon Masonic Lodge, member of the York Rite, the Zuhrah Shrine Temple and the Willmar Area Shrine Club.
Royce will be remembered by family and friends for having a patient and understanding personality and being organized. He was a man his children were always proud of. His hobbies included gardening and planting trees. He cherished the time spent with his family at the cabin on Lake Florida and teaching them how to appreciate the sunsets. Royce and Adrian were always together, if you saw one you knew the other was close by.
He is survived by his wife, Adrian of Raymond; five children, Duane (and Michelle) Day of New London, David Day (and special friend, Cecile Letourneau) of Raymond, Nancy (and Dennis) Endres of Raymond, Dean Day of Belview and April (and Christopher) Eisenberg of Champlain; fifteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Darel (and Delores) Day of St. Cloud, besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lorys Perkins.
