Ruby Watson, age 92, of Willmar, died Thursday morning, March 15, at Rice Care Center in Willmar.
Memorial service will be at 12:00 pm on Saturday, April 28th, at Refuge Church in Willmar. Memorials are preferred to The Korean Baptist University and Seminary/ Scholarship Fund for M.DIV. Students, or Refuge Church/Trout Lake Scholarship Fund. Arrangements are by Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.
Ruby Jean Watson was born September 8, 1925, in Meadow, South Dakota, to Clarence Roy and Elizabeth (Gauer) Watson. The family later moved to the Lake Lillian area. Ruby received her education in Atwater and graduated from Atwater High School. She lived in Atwater and worked as a bookkeeper for Atwater Ford for 41 years. In retirement, she moved to Sun City, Arizona, where she lived until moving to Willmar in 2012.
Ruby was a former member of the Atwater Baptist Church and Grace Bible Church in Arizona, and a current member of Refuge Church in Willmar. Ruby served as a hospital auxiliary volunteer in Arizona and at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. She enjoyed bowling, crafting, and traveling, especially her many trips with Lorraine Johnson and other friends. She made many knitted baby hats and donated them to the hospital nursery. She also enjoyed spending time with her siblings, nieces, and nephews. Family reunions were very special to Ruby and she worked tirelessly on the family genealogy.
She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Benson of Willmar; a sister-in-law, Betty Watson of Hutchinson; and a brother-in-law, Dan Smith of Minneapolis/Sun City, AZ; and her many nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Alvin Watson, Eugene Watson, and Dalton Watson; and four sisters, Neoma Gordon, Doris Peterson, Eleanor Smith, and Ruth Cazer.
