Randy O. Halverson was born on August 25, 1965, in Willmar, Minnesota, the son of Rudolph and Maryanne (Nelson) Halverson. He grew up in Benson and graduated from Benson High School and then attended Willmar Vo-Tech. Rudy was employed as a painter for several area businesses and helped friends with their painting businesses as well. In his younger years he loved traveling and telling stories.
He enjoyed camping, playing dominos, his canine companions (Shadow-black lab & Buck-yellow lab) and being with his friends. He lived in Arizona and California, until he came back to Minnesota and enjoyed more camping and painting jobs. One job he was proud of, was working at Diamond Vogel in downtown Willmar.
Rudy was released from Rice Hospital in mid-June and was taken to Wabasso's Golden Living Center. On October 15, 2014, he returned to Willmar and moved into Bethesda Heritage Center. Caron Wartman became his guardian in mid-June and they'd been friends for many years. They thought of each other as sister & brother, more than friends. After church on October 22, Caron went to visit Rudy at Bethesda Heritage and had some conversations with him. She realized Rudy's final hours were approaching and decided to stay so he was not and did not die alone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and MaryAnne; his grandparents, Granny-Irene Nelson; and one brother, Dana Halverson. He will be missed by many friends!
