Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. on Friday, February 5, at the Church of St. Mary in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.
Ruth Mary Bjornberg was born on March 29, 1922, in Melrose, Minnesota, the daughter of Otto and Hilda (Brick) Lorinser. She grew up in Minneapolis and in 1938, moved to Willmar and graduated from Willmar High School in 1940. On April 11, 1942, she married Stanton George Bjornberg. They lived in Wisconsin the first few years of their marriage and then moved to Willmar. Ruth was a member of the Church of St. Mary and was active with the Altar and Rosary Society and Daughters of Isabella. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and past member of the Willmar and Valley Golf courses.
Ruth was an avid golfer. She loved walking, playing cards, handwork, reading, cooking and baking, going out to the hunting shacks and entertaining friends and family. Ruth will be best remembered as an overly generous person who always put others and her family first. Days before her death, she said she knew her time was near but didn't want to leave her family. God would have taken her sooner, but He knew we needed her more.
She is survived by her three children, Cheryl Emerson of Oakdale, Bruce (and Deb) Bjornberg of Willmar and Becky (and Daryl) Fritz of Eagle Lake; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Mary (and Reuel) Nygaard of Plymouth, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stanton in 1994; four brothers, Chuck, Dave, Bob and Dick and three sisters, Delore, Bernice, and Marge.
