WILLMAR
Ruth Broman, age 91, of Willmar, died Saturday afternoon, June 3rd, at the Bethesda Pleasantview Nursing Home in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 11A.M., Tuesday, June 6th, at the First Covenant Church in Willmar with Rev. Daniel Johnson officiating. The interment will be at the Oak Park Methodist Cemetery, south of Kandiyohi. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. Arrangements are with the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.
Ruth Broman was born on March 2, 1915, at Maple Park, Illinois, the daughter of Alma (Johnson) and Tobias Hansen. At the age of five, her family moved to a farm near Crookston, Minnesota. There she attended country schools and graduated from Crookston High School and the Teacher's Training Course. Ruth later attended Moorhead State College and received a degree in Elementary Education. She then taught in rural schools and Willmar Public Schools for many years. On December 15, 1951, in Willmar, Ruth was married to Melvin S. Broman and they made their home on the Broman family farm south of Kandiyohi until 1965, when they moved to Hector. She worked as a librarian for the Hector School. In 1976, they moved to Willmar and Ruth entered the Bethesda Homes July 15, 2002. She was a member of the Oak Park Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and later secretary and historian for the Oak Park Cemetery Association. Ruth was a member of the First Covenant Church of Willmar, Sons of Norway and the Kandiyohi County Historical Society.
She is survived by one sister, Florence Brouwer of Willmar. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, besides other relatives and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Melvin in 1994), an infant daughter and one brother (Arnold Hansen) in 2002.
