Ruth E. Melbie, age 85, of Spicer, passed away Sunday morning, June 2, at Glen Oaks Senior Living in New London.
There will be no services. Arrangements are entrusted to the Peterson Brothers Green Lake Funeral Home in Spicer.
Ruth Evelyn Melbie was born on July 26, 1938, in Southport, New York, the daughter of Frederick and Lucy (Johnson) Clearwater. She grew up and received her education in Elmira, New York. In 1960 Ruth was married to Ralph Melbie and they made their home in Elmira. In 1970 they divorced and in 2000, Ruth moved to the Spicer community. She worked at Ted's RV, Spicer Castle and at Jahnke Foods in the deli. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and crocheting.
She is survived by four children, Gayle Dean of Spicer, Wesley Melbie of New London, JR Melbie of Spicer and Beth (and David) Hodge of Dundee, New York; twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Lucy Edward's in 2013; one sister, Mary Manwaring and a brother-in-law, Harold Manwaring.
