Ruth Lucille Nordmeyer, 96, of Willmar, died Monday, December 26, at Bethesda Heritage Center Nursing Home in Willmar.
Memorial Mass will be 11a.m. Friday, December 30, at the Church of St. Mary in Willmar. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home.
Ruth was born July 13, 1915, in Breckenridge, Minnesota, the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Gaspar) Iverson. She grew up and attended school in Breckenridge, graduating from Breckenridge High School in 1933. She then attended the North Dakota State School of Science and Miss Woods Kindergarten Primary Training School in Minneapolis. She taught first grade in Jasper, Minnesota for three years. On February 20, 1940, she married Merton W. Nordmeyer and they lived in Lucan, Minneapolis, and Breckenridge before moving to Willmar in 1954, where Ruth has resided until her death. Ruth then taught kindergarten in Raymond and as a substitute in Willmar schools. She was a member of the Church of St. Mary, Chapter BI P.E.O. Sisterhood and the V.F.W. Auxilliary.
She is survived by her sons: William (and Bonnie) Nordmeyer of Willmar and Richard (and Vickie) Nordmeyer of Bismarck, ND; ten grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Merton in 1987; a daughter: Marcia Lindquist in 2005; and a brother: Kenneth Iverson.
