J. Scott Buer, age 51, of Atwater, died Friday morning, Jan 22, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, Jan. 26, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Atwater. Interment will be in the church cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Funeral arrangements are with the Atwater Funeral Home.
Scott Buer was born on September 3, 1958, in Litchfield, Minnesota, the son of Delmar and Norma Jean (Hovey) Buer. He grew up in Atwater, graduated from Atwater High School in 1976 and attended the Willmar Area Vo-Tech. Scott moved to Atlantic, Iowa and was employed at a Honda dealership. He later returned to Atwater and work at Gaylen's 66 service station for many years. He then owned and operated "Skippy's" Lawn Service in Atwater. Scott enjoyed playing cards, telling jokes and being with his family and friends. Since early childhood, Scott has fought a courageous battle with diabetes.
He is survived by his five siblings, Jeff (and Wanda) Buer of Anita, IA., Gerry (and Kris) Buer of Atwater, Jenny Thompson (and Kenny Kampsen) of Belgrade, Ann (and Steve) Olson of Alexandria and Joan (and John) Larson of Atwater. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Marlene and Jacqueline.
