Severin Carlson

November 14, 1922 — August 19, 2007

Severin R. Carlson, age 84, of Willmar, died Sunday afternoon, August 19th, at the Rice Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 10 A.M, at the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Friedrich officiating. Interment will be in the Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-7 P.M. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Military honors will be provided by the Austin F. Hanscom American Legion Post # 167 of Willmar.
Severin Carlson was born on November 14, 1922, at Nipiwin, Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of Alma 0. (Nelson) and Carl S. Carlson. At the age of five, he moved with his family to the United States. He grew up in the Willmar community, was confirmed at the Eagle Lake Lutheran Church and attended Willmar schools. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was stationed in Guam. On January 5, 1952, in Atwater, he was married to Vernis E. Pearson. He was employed by the Central Dairy, later as a truck driver for the Standard Oil Co., later the Murphy Freight Co. and prior to his retirement, worked for the Willmar Poultry Co. He was a member of the American Legion Post, enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his daughters horses. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Norma.
He is survived by his wife, Vernis, one son, Gerald (and Jean) Carlson of Willmar, one daughter, Diane Carlson of Willmar, 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Calvin (and Jane) Carlson of Long Beach, CA,, besides other relatives and friends.
