Shaun McFarland

Shaun R. McFarland, age 48, of New London, died Monday evening, Aug. 26, at his residence in New London following a six year battle with cancer.

Shaun Robert McFarland was born on July 26, 1971, in Drayton, North Dakota, the son of Dennis and Lorna (Soderfelt) McFarland.  He grew up in Drayton, graduated from Drayton High School in 1989 and attended college at UND and Ridgewater College.  In 1993, Shaun was married to Lisa Hess and they made their home in Drayton where Shaun farmed for many years.  In 2001, they moved to Willmar and founded McFarland Carpet Care Plus.  In 2012, Lisa passed away.  On July 23, 2018, Shaun was married to Melissa Binsfeld and they made their home in New London.  Shaun was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan.  He enjoyed boating, ice fishing, flying and farming.

He is survived by his wife, Missy of New London; five children, Cody McFarland (and Grace) of Crystal, Montanna (and John) Dalby of St. Cloud, Reilly McFarland of Willmar, Taylor Binsfeld (and Corey Dahl) of New London and Jack Niemela of New London.  Also surviving is one brother, Tyler (and Christy) McFarland of Drayton, ND and two sisters, Mel McFarland of Drayton, ND and Crystal (and Todd) Beckman of Sioux Falls, SD, besides other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Lisa.
