Shirley Mae Halsey, age 92, of Willmar, passed away Monday morning, July 20, at Vista Prairie at Copperleaf in Willmar.

Shirley Mae Halsey was born on May 17, 1928, in Willmar, Minnesota, the daughter of Irving and Frances Nelson. She grew up in the Lake Lillian community, graduated from Olivia High School in 1946 and received her Lab Tech certification in Minneapolis. Shirley was united in marriage to James “Jim” Albert Halsey and they made their home in Willmar. Shirley was employed for many years at the Willmar Clinic. She was a member of the Church of St. Mary in Willmar. She enjoyed music, playing piano, singing, growing beautiful flower gardens, camping with her family and friends and cherished time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Patrick (and Terri) Halsey of Rochester and two grandchildren, Brooke (and Chad) Sikkink and Chase Halsey, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim in 2015 and a sister in infancy.
