Shirley Vossen, age 80, of Paynesville, formerly of Willmar, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, August 15, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 20, at the Calvary Lutheran Church Chapel in Willmar with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Shirley Ann Vossen was born June 22, 1938 in Paynesville, Minnesota, the daughter of Russell and Margaret (Burr) Liestman. She grew up in Paynesville and graduated from Paynesville High School in 1956. She then worked for Bell Telephone Company in Minneapolis. She married her first husband Dewayne Boie and they made their home in Paynesville. She married her second husband Arnold Vossen on March 2, 1999 in Redding, California and they made their home in Willmar.
Shirley was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. She loved traveling and going to auctions with her husband Arnie. She cherished the moments she was able to spend with her family and friends. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, shopping, cooking, cleaning, playing bingo, listening to music, having coffee with friends and family, attending church, and yes even waiting in line to get that Powerball ticket.
Shirley is survived by four children: Nancy Morrison (Mike) of Atwater, MN, Allen Boie (Pam) of Paynesville, MN, Chris (Angela) Boie of White Bluff, TN, and Melissa Vossen of Del Mar, CA; 10 grandchildren: Duane, Holly, Megan, ReAnna, Hope, Faith, Nicholas, Nathaniel, Jonathan, and Adam; five great-grandchildren: Waylon, Raidyn, Amerina, Adella, and Athena; one sister: Pat (Roger) Power; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Arnie; her son: Michael Boie; her brothers: Richard and Bob; and two infant grandchildren.
