Shonta R. Peterson, age 33, of Atwater died Friday, April 12.
Memorial service will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, April 17, at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer. Interment will be in Oakside Cemetery in rural Spicer. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM, Tuesday at Peterson Brothers Atwater Funeral Home in Atwater and one hour prior to the church Wednesday.

Shonta Rommel Peterson was born on August 12, 1979 in Litchfield, Minnesota. She was baptized at home at two weeks old. She grew up on a farm north of Atwater, Minnesota, and was confirmed at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer. She graduated from Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City High School in 1997. Shonta continued her education and obtained her Bachelor's Degree from Winona State University as a Paralegal. She worked for a time as a Paralegal for Woods & Thompson in Minneapolis. She also worked for Target Corporation, Prairie Community Homes in Spicer and was a Sales Rep. for Avon.
Shonta enjoyed reading, swimming, snowmobiling, jogging and watching movies. She loved watching her nephews play baseball and football and was a fan of the NFL and college football. Shonta took her place in heaven on April 12, 2013 and is at peace with her Savior Jesus Christ. She was loved and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her mother, Bonnie Dutchak of Atwater, sister Shannon (and Kevin) Bodeker of Glenwood, brother Reese (and Michelle) Peterson of Atwater, nephews Randy (and Briana Zaeska) Peterson, Nicholas Peterson, and Brooks Bodeker, great-nephew Parker Peterson, maternal grandmother Margaret Lorensen of Atwater, paternal grandmother Grace Peterson of Atwater, and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Randall Peterson, step-fathers , Jerry Stoffers and Richard Dutchak, grandfathers, Raymond Mahn and Clarence Peterson.
