Steve Gauer was born in Willmar, Minnesota January 20, 1958. He accepted Christ as his Savior June 12, 1965. As a young adult Steve loved playing football. He was the true measure of a Christian man; humble, kind, and generous. He had a soft heart for all of those in need. The sentence that describes him best would be “He gave more than he took from this world.” He graduated from Willmar Senior High School in 1976. He learned to play guitar on his own and later played in the band Shakedown. Music was his passion, and he was an extremely talented musician, especially with the guitar. He was a supervisor in the shipping department at Jennie-O for several years. He worked for Nelson Brothers Drywall as a drywall taper. He loved fishing, Vikings football, and was a Minnesota Gophers fan. Steve was loved by many dear friends and family.
Steve was married and divorced and from that marriage gained a daughter, Kirissa, who was beloved by him. Their bond and relationship were paramount in his life and in hers. He had five grandchildren: Erick, Anthony, Bentley, Elizabeth, and Tristan who he adored and spent time with every day. His daily highlights were spending time with his daughter and grandchildren. As a family they enjoyed fishing, getting ice cream, and eating his homemade BBQ’s. Steve could be found every evening snuggling with at least one of his grandchildren. He also cared for the feral cats in the neighborhood and of those cats he had a special bond with Shadow.
Steve loved his family and the time he spent especially watching sports games, fishing and helping with house projects.
He is survived by his daughter, Kirissa; five grandchildren, Erick, Anthony, Bentley, Elizabeth, and Tristan; three siblings; Kevin Gauer (Chae), Colleen Dold, and Lee Gauer (Michelle), his nieces and nephew; Jackie Bohline (Luke, Micah and Ethan), Megan Gauer Kloos (Tommy), Moriah Gauer Johannes (Mitch), and Mathew Gauer (Corin), besides other relatives and many friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents Lowell and Arlene Gauer, and brother-in-law, Richard Dold.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain any more, for the former things have passed away. Revelations 21:4
