Steven Pederson

June 18, 1961 — June 23, 2010

Steven Ray Pederson, 49, of Minneapolis, formerly of Willmar, died suddenly on June 22, 2010 of a ruptured blood vessel in his brain.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 29 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 28 at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home (700 Becker Avenue, Willmar, MN, 320-235-1651) and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Steve was born June 18, 1961, in Willmar to Rayburn and Louella (Carr) Pederson. He graduated from Willmar High School in 1979 and went on to graduate from the University of Minnesota in spite of a debilitating leukemia diagnosis when he was 17 years old.

Devotion to his family was of first importance for Steve, he was always present at any event, happy or sad, that had to do with his family. He adored his 5 great-nieces.

Steve's true gift was his sense of humor. He made everyone around him laugh. He loved the Minnesota Twins and traveled to many cities to see them play. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing the lakes in Minnesota.

Steve was the beloved son of Louella "Lou" Pederson, of Willmar, and beloved brother of Beverly Dougherty, of Willmar. He is also survived by his nephew, Jason Dougherty, of Willmar, and his niece, Nancy Taranto (Dougherty) and her husband Bill Taranto of Newtown, PA and great-nieces, Brynne & Lia. He is also survived by Kerry Dougherty, of Atlanta, and his great-nieces Ryan, Kate & Lily. He is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ray E. Pederson of Willmar, and his nephew, Tim Dougherty of Atlanta.

Steve's family thanks you from the bottom of our hearts for your sympathy, your caring and your constant friendship to Steve over the course of his too short life.
