Thelma Ardith Maness, 78, of Willmar, died Friday, March 12, at Bethesda PleasantView Nursing Home in Willmar.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 18, at First Lutheran Church of Norway Lake. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Thelma was born March 26, 1931, in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, to Chester and Clarise (Thorson) Hovey. She moved with her family at a young age to New London and attended school in New London/Spicer and Willmar. On April 14, 1954, she married Edison Maness of Robbins, North Carolina. They lived in the Minneapolis area, for a short time in Robbins, North Carolina and later Shakopee, Minnesota, where Thelma was employed in several different factories. In 1984, she moved to Willmar. She was employed for a time as a housekeeper with the Social Services Department in Willmar. She attended First Covenant Church and was active with the women's groups.
She is survived by two sisters: Audrey Strom of Willmar and Charlotte (and Fred) Thomas of Cleveland, Georgia; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edison; and a sister, Charlene.
