Thelma Peters

Thelma A. Peters, age 91, of Willmar, died Tuesday, December 22, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.

Funeral services will be 1:30 PM. Wednesday, December 30, at the Calvary Lutheran Church Chapel with Rev. Matthew Williams officiating. Interment will be in the Spicer City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.

Thelma Aleda Peters was born November 18, 1918, in Cylinder, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas and Caroline (Gjerde) Hommeland. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She moved with her family to Minnesota at a young age. On June 10, 1939, she married LeRoy Peters and they made their home in Athens, Wisconsin. Thelma was self-employed as a domestic worker for several families. In 1943, they moved to Willmar. Thelma resided at Bethesda Heritage Center since 2004. She was a member of the Eagle's Auxiliary and Calvary Lutheran Church, where she was active with the bus ministry program. She enjoyed embroidery and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by two sons: Myron (and Evelyn) Peters of Eden Prairie and James Peters of Willmar, three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: LeRoy in 1981, a brother: Curtis Hommeland, a sister: Orletta Jakobson, and a niece: Carol Olson.
