Theodore Bartel

Theodore "Ted" A. Bartel, age 79, of Willmar, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening, July 26, at his home in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 1, at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Interment will be at Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, July 31 at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Wilmar and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Theodore "Ted" A. Bartel was born on October 4, 1937, in Raymond, Minnesota, the son of Theodore H. and Hertha A. (Haase) Bartel. He grew up in the Raymond and Kandiyohi communities, graduated from Willmar High School in 1955, and served in the Minnesota National Guard for 8 years. On August 15, 1959, Theodore was united in marriage to Lois E. Sannerud and they made their home in Kandiyohi. He was employed as a roofer for many years at Knigge Roofing and later was employed as a bookkeeper for Rutledge Roofing in Murdock and then at Reigstad Roofing in Willmar, retiring in about 2002. Ted was a longtime and active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. He enjoyed playing card games, puzzles, reading western books, gardening and being outdoors, especially deer and pheasant hunting and ice fishing. Ted will be remembered for being a gentle and compassionate man, having a good sense of humor, a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and a faithful servant of the Lord.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lois of Willmar; two daughters, Lorraine (and David) King of Willmar and Linda (and Tim) Levens of Mound; four grandchildren, Casey Swier, Timmy Levens, Isaac King and Tony Levens; and two great grandchildren, Julian and Ellaina. Also surviving is one brother, Elloyd (and Janice) Bartel of Willmar and two sisters, Corrine (and Jim) Hendrickson of Janesville, WI., and Ethel (and Don) Johnson of Brooklyn Center, besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Teddy in 1977.
