Thomas Kelleher

Thomas E. Kelleher, age 63, of Spicer, died Wednesday morning, August 25, at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis from a brain injury he sustained in an accident.

Memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, August 27, at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Spicer. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. At the families request, in lieu of flowers, memorials to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation are preferred. Funeral arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Green Lake Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Spicer.

Thomas was born on May 1, 1947, in Clifton Springs, New York, the son of Francis Robert and Helen Ethel (Cryst) Kelleher. He grew up in Geneva, New York and graduated from DeSales High School in Geneva. Thomas served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam conflict from 1967 to 1970. He was stationed in Europe where he met his wife of over 39 years. On October 3, 1970, Thomas was united in marriage to Carolyn Virginia Berneking and they made their home in the Minneapolis area. In 1973, he graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.S. degree. Thomas then began a lifelong career in finance, beginning with Northwest Airlines and Paulucci Enterprises. He then became employed in banking in various cities throughout Minnesota. Thomas was most recently employed at Heritage Bank and retired from Drake Bank in St. Paul in 2007.

Thomas was an active member of Kiwanis, the Southwest MN Initiative Foundation and Small Business Administration. He was also a Lay Speaker for the United Methodist Church and active in various church committees. Thomas enjoyed genealogy, woodcarving and fishing and golfing with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn of Spicer; three children, Amy (and Justin) Rewertz of LaCrosse, WI., Andrew Kelleher of Spicer and Anna (and Peter) Welle of St. Paul.; one brother, G. James (and Maureen) Kelleher of Nanuet, NY., and several pets, besides other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
