Toni Schmidt

Toni D. Schmidt, age 77, of Willmar, died Thursday evening, Jan. 30, in her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6, at the Church of St. Mary. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.  Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home.  www.petersonbrothers.com

Toni DeLyla Schmidt was born on October 23, 1942, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the daughter of Thomas and Alice (Karll) Janisch.  She grew up and received her education in Sioux Falls.  On January 11, 1962, Toni was married to Robert Arnold Schmidt and they made their home in Willmar.  She was employed for many years in the housekeeping department at the Parkway Motel and Rice Care Center.  She was a member of the Church of St. Mary.  Toni enjoyed bowling, gardening, flowers and playing the Fast Track board game.  She also enjoyed visiting Prairies Edge Casino and being with her family and friends.

She is survived by her loving husband of over 58 years, Robert; two children, Thomas (and Kim) Schmidt of Litchfield and Julie Schmidt (and Norman Ross) of Willmar; seven grandchildren, Kati (and Jake), Samantha (and Nick), Taylor, Tabitha, John, Sabrina and Francine; and several great grandchildren.  Also surviving is one brother, Terry Janisch of Oxnard, CA., besides other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, David in 2006; a brother-in-law, Ralph Schmidt and a special friend, Karen Neuman.
