Velma E. Hansen, age 104, of Albertville, formerly of Willmar, died Saturday evening, June 29, at her home in Albertville.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church Interment will be at Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery. Velma Evelyn (Sloneker) Hansen was born on June 18, 1915, in Fairmont, Minnesota, the daughter of Will and Alma (Weidler) Sloneker. The family moved to Plentywood, Montana and then to the Morris, Minnesota area where she attended rural school. Velma graduated from the West Central School of Agriculture in 1934.
On October 30, 1938, Velma was united in marriage to Murray C. Hansen of Willmar, Minnesota. While in Willmar, Murray and Velma were members of Calvary Lutheran Church. They farmed in the Willmar area until they retired.
Following the death of her husband, she moved to the Minneapolis area to be near her daughters. After moving to Albertville, Velma joined Resurrection Lutheran Church in Monticello.
She is survived by one daughter, Karen Bowen of Albertville; two grandchildren, Jeff Nordlund and Kelly (and Neil) Sall; one great-grandson, Tyler Verboncoeur; two step-great grandchildren, Genessa (and David) Lahr and Greg Sall; one step-great great grandson, James Lahr; one brother, Leon Sloneker of Cyrus; and several nieces and nephews, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Murray in 1993; one daughter, Gayle Zohlmann in 2016; one brother, Merrill Sloneker and one sister, Helen Stenson.
