Vera Hoglund

Vera S. C. Hoglund, age 97, of Willmar, died Wednesday evening, Nov. 1, at the Bethesda Grand Nursing Home in Willmar.

Memorial services will be held at 2 PM, Friday, November 10 at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer, Minnesota.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  The interment was in the Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery in Willmar.   Memorials are preferred to Faith Lutheran Church.  Arrangements are with the Peterson Brothers Green Lake Funeral Home in Spicer.  www.petersonbrothers.com

Vera Sally Cordella was born on December 3, 1919 in Kerkhoven, Minnesota, the daughter of Cornell  and Mabel (Hagen) Rud.  She was baptized at Monson Lake Lutheran Church, confirmed at Kerkhoven Lutheran Church  and received her education in country school completing 8 grade.  On August 23, 1941 she was married go Ruben W. Hoglund in Willmar and they made their home Sunburg and then to Willmar when Ruben  was called to serve in WW II.  They lived in Willmar until 1958 when they moved to Spicer and became members of Faith Lutheran Church.  Vera worked at the Green Lake Bible Camp, the Spicer School District, City of Spicer and the Wayne Ored  Grocery and Dry Goods Store.  Vera and Ruben took up golf in retirement, spent many winters in Arizona enjoying retirement among many life long friends and celebrated their 76th wedding anniversary this past August.  She loved being with family and friends and enjoyed playing golf, cards, dancing and sewing quilt tops for church.

She is survived by her husband Ruben of Willmar and one daughter, Sharon (and Clair) Madsen of St. Cloud.  Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, besides other relatives and friends.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son Charles Hoglund in 1980, twin sister and brother-in-law, Verna (and Marvin) Miller and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Clifton (and Violet) Rud and Merlyn (and Marlotte) Rud.
