Verna Mae Jydstrup, age 89, of Raymond died Wednesday afternoon at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Friday, October 19, at the United Methodist Church in Raymond. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Verna Mae (Bongs) Jydstrup was born on August 28, 1923 near Raymond, Minnesota, the daughter of Anna (Hippen) and William Bongs. She moved with her family into Raymond and graduated from Raymond High School. On January 27, 1943 she was married to Gordon R. Jydstrup and they made their home in Raymond. Verna was a life long member of the Raymond United Methodist Church and active in the church women groups. She enjoyed sewing, baking, making fudge, visiting and playing cards with her friends.
She is survived by one son, Alan Jydstrup of Raymond and one daughter, Gail Crim of Crystal and Gail's sister, Vickie (and Doyle) Whittenburg of Cleveland, Ohio. Also surviving are two grandchildren; Eric Jones and Jaron Crim, one brother, William (and Vonda) Bongs, Jr. of Deerwood and one sister, Gertrude Heida of Raymond.
Verna was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Gordon in 2001) and four sisters; Erna Erickson (Verna's twin), Marilyn Bongs, Lucille Robertson and Marie Boettcher.
