Victor W. Koch, age 95, of Willmar, died Tuesday afternoon, April 23, at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.
A memorial service will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, April 27, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. The interment will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Rice Hospice at Rice Memorial Hospital or the Hawk Creek Animal Shelter in Willmar.
Victor William Koch was born on January 9, 1918, in Helena, Montana, the son of Helena (Schreier) and Nicholas Koch. His early years were spent in Montana and that is where he received his education. He moved with his family to Nest Lake in 1931. Victor was in the Army during WW II and then returned to the New London/Spicer area. As a young man he had Sunnyside Consignment Service at his home and started Little Crow Sodding and Tree Service in Willmar. He had that business until the late 1960's when he sold it and started the Koch Sanitation Services business around the Spicer/New London area. Victor retired and sold the sanitation business in 1972. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Willmar and a member of the American Legion in Willmar. Victor enjoyed being with his friends, going to auction and garage sales, attending "Let's Go Fishing" outings and going to Hillcrest with his friend Loren.
He is survived by three sons; William Koch and Michael Koch of South Dakota; Charles Koch (and Alix) of New London and two grandsons; Charles and Benjamin Koch of New London. Also surviving are four brothers; Joseph Koch of New London, Leo (and Dorothy) Koch of Maplewood, Walter (and Verna) Koch of St. Paul and Fred Koch of Willmar and one sister, Alice Maclennan of St. Paul, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many long-time friends.
Victor was preceded in death by his parents, wives and three brothers; Julius, Nicholas and Bernard Koch.
