Viola I. Frost, age 90, of Atwater, died Saturday evening, November 26, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
Services will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday, December 1, at St. John Lutheran Church north of Atwater. Memorials are preferred to the St. John Lutheran Church Organ Fund. The interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with the Peterson Brothers Atwater Funeral Home.
Viola Irene (Erne) Frost was born on June 13 1921 in Harrison Township, north of Atwater, the daughter of Caroline (Peters) and Benjamin Erne. She grew up in that area, attended rural school and baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. As a young lady she hired out to do domestic work for people and song duets, singing the alto parts. On December 29, 1943, she was married to Christ Nelson Frost at St. John Lutheran Church and they made their home in the Atwater area. She started going to St. John Lutheran Church as a young child and has been an active member, teaching Sunday School and a member of the Ladies Aid. Viola was an avid gardener, she started a hybrid day lily garden that is still attended to by her family and she was an member of the Green Thumb Garden Club of Atwater for over 50 years. Viola loved being with family and friends, traveling and sharing her love of life and happiness to all around her. Later in life she was an avid reader and enjoyed crotchting and bird watching.
Viola is survived by her daughter: Bunne Lu (and Roland) Frost-Johnston of Atwater, her faithful pal Katrina, her dachshund dog, and several nieces and nephews, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Christ in 1988), infant son (Randy in 1945) and on the same day as herself her sister (Stella Heining).
