Violet Justi

Violet E. L. Justi, age 90, of Willmar and formerly of the Sunburg area, died Thursday morning, Dec. 8, at the North Ridge Care Center in New Hope.

Services will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday, December 13th, at Hope Lutheran Church in Sunburg. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery in Kerkhoven. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with the Peterson Brothers Sunburg Funeral Home in Sunburg. www.petersonbrothers.com

Violet Easter Lillie (Johnson) Justi was born on March 27, 1921, in Artander Township, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, the daughter of Ottelia Gemeena (Skinnes) and Albert John Johnson. She grew up in the Kerkhoven area, was baptized and confirmed at the Kerkhoven Lutheran Church and received her education in the District 54 School. On May 18, 1941, she was married to Roland Ervin Justi and they made their home in the Kerkhoven area for a short time and then moved to the Sunburg area. She was a member of the West Norway Lutheran Church and was active in the Ladies Aid. In 1997, she moved to Willmar and joined Calvary Lutheran Church. Violet moved to Crystal, Minnesota in 2006 and entered the North Ridge Care Center in New Hope in 2010. She loved being with family and friends and enjoyed dancing, singing, going to Birthday Club in Sunburg and gardening.

She is survived by two daughters; Barbara (and Wayne) Rierson of Crystal and Heidi (and Edward) Thomas of Los Angeles, California. Also surviving is one grandson; Christopher (and Kim) Rierson of Ramsey and one sister; Ruby Justi of New London.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Roland in 1972), two brothers (Archie Johnson and one in infancy) and two sisters (Blanche Benson and Amanda Rood).
