Violet E. Larsen, age 99, of Willmar, died Saturday evening, December 10, at the Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.
A graveside service will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday, December 14, at the Fairview Cemetery in Willmar. Visitation will be held for 5-7 P.M. Tuesday at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. Memorials are preferred to Rice Hospice or Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.
Violet Eleanora (Carlson) Larsen was born on October 7, 1912 in Woods Township, Chippewa County, near Kerkhoven, the daughter of Frank L. and Elvera Lydia (Fanberg) Carlson. She grew up in the Kerkhoven area and graduated from Kerkhoven High School. Violet continued her education and attended one year at St. Cloud Teacher College. On May 28, 1936, at her family home, she was married to Ervin Nils Larsen and they made their home in Kerkhoven. She helped Erv at the bake shop until he entered the service and Violet travel with Erv. He was stationed in Boston, Mass. and then Bakersfield, California, before he shipped out overseas. Violet return to Kerkhoven while Erv served overseas. Erv returned from the service and they moved to Willmar in 1946 and started Erv's Radio and TV business where she was the bookkeeper, secretary and sales person with Erv. She was an active member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and was a member of several community organizations. She loved being with family and friends and took pride in their flower gardens at their home.
She is survived by one brother: Carl (and Helen) Carlson of Willmar, besides other relatives and friends. Violet was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Ervin in 2003), one brother (Elmer Carlson), one sister (Myrtle Carlson) and sister-in-law; Sadie Herbst.
