Warren Lindgren, age 92, of Willmar, died Saturday evening, August 17, at the Minnesota State Veterans Home in Fergus Falls.
A memorial service will be 11 A.M. Monday, August 26, at Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar. The interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Willmar with military honors provided by Austin F. Hanscom American Legion Post 167. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church.
Warren Duane Lindgren was born November 17, 1926, on the family farm near Sunburg, Minnesota, the son of Lewis and Alma (Hagen) Lindgren. He grew up in the rural Sunburg community and graduated from Kerkhoven High School. Warren served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On June 10, 1949, he married Clarice Nelson at Crow River Church near Belgrade. They made their home in Minneapolis while Warren attended Dunwoody Institute and in 1951 they moved to the Atwater area, where Warren worked at Atwater Ford. In about 1960, they moved to Willmar, where Warren owned and operated Lakeview Motors with his brother until selling the business in 1980. In retirement, Warren continued to do auto body work out of his garage and also worked as a bailiff at the Kandiyohi County Courthouse for several years. Warren had resided at the Minnesota State Veterans Home in Fergus Falls since 2014.
Warren loved being with family and friends and enjoyed square dancing. He also enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting.
He is survived by one son, Steven (and Barbara) Lindgren of Willmar; and one daughter, Judith Lambertson of Willmar; ten grandchildren, Michelle Willscher, Angela Swenson, Jesse Lindgren, Shannon Knutson, Ryan Lindgren, Jason Lindgren, Alysa Bergstrom, Jakkee Lindgren, Halee Hastad and Christian Hastad; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Gene (and Marlene) Lindgren of Anoka; one sisters, Joyce Monson of Anoka; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Clarice in 2013; one son, Michael Lindgren in 2006; one daughter, Shari Hastad in April 2019; nine brothers; and one sister.
