WILLMAR, MN.
William "Bill" Bruce Mair, age 85, of Willmar, died Monday evening, October 2, at Bethesda Heritage Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 7, at Crow River Lutheran Church in Belgrade. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Belgrade V.F.W. Post #1825. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. on Friday, October 6, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Bill was born on May 17, 1921, in Almont, Michigan, the son of Walter and Eva (McInally) Mair. He grew up and received his education in Michigan. From 1942 to 1945, he served in the U.S. Army overseas in Europe during W.W. II and received the Purple Heart award. Following his discharge, Bill lived in Arizona and California before moving to Minnesota in 1979. On July 2, 1981, he was united in marriage to Agnes Stulen and they made their home in the Willmar community. Bill was employed for many years as a car salesman throughout the Willmar and Benson areas. Most recently he was employed at Mills Auto Center and later with Uken Auto Sales, retiring in 2001. He was an active member of Crow River Lutheran Church. Bill enjoyed watching sports and was an avid horseman.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes of Willmar; two children, John (and Sophia) Mair of Tuscon, AZ., and Julie Enrity of Charleston, SC.; two stepchildren, Ron (and Darline) Thorson of Norman, OK., and Marcia Nordwall of Trout Lake, WA.; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Jim (and Sharon) Mair of Howell, MI., besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Lloyd, Lynn and Stan Mair; and one stepson, Larry Thorson.
