Yvonne B. Lindgren, age 88, of Willmar, died Monday morning, Feb. 4, at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7, at Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar. Interment will be at Monson Lake Lutheran Cemetery near Sunburg. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church. www.petersonbrothers.com
Yvonne Bloomi Lindgren was born on March 9, 1924 on the family farm near Sunburg, the daughter of Ingmar and Ida (Hollen) Rudningen. She grew up in the Sunburg community and attended country school. In 1942, Yvonne graduated from Kerkhoven High School and later moved to California where she worked in a defense plant. In 1944, she moved to Willmar and worked at the Coffee Stop and later at J.C. Penny's department store. On June 1, 1946, Yvonne was united in marriage to Jerry Lindgren. They made their home in Minneapolis for a few years before moving to Salem, South Dakota and then to Willmar, Minnesota. Yvonne was employed for 12 years at the Willmar Regional Treatment Center as a Health Service Technician. She was a member of Vinje Lutheran Church. Her hobbies included reading, traveling, sewing, gardening and babysitting her grandchildren.
She is survived by six children, Darlene (and Bill) Baker of Port Orange, FL., Darwin Lindgren of Reston, VA., Dawn Lindgren of St. Paul, MN., Rhonda Lindgren of Phoenix, AZ., J. John (and Christine) Lindgren of Willmar and Mary Britta Lindgren of Reston, VA.; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Dwayne Rudningen of Sunburg and Winfield (and Gladys) Rudningen of Brainerd and two sisters, Eileen Norby of New London and Alice Faye (and Marshall) Williams of Maple Grove, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry in 1995; two daughters, Denise and Deborah; one granddaughter, Farolyn; one brother, Russell Rudningen and one sister, Lenore Ellendson.
