Zona Niece

Zona A. Niece, age 88, of Willmar, died Wednesday morning, January 14, at Glen Oaks Care Center in New London.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 20, at the First Presbyterian Church in Willmar. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Willmar. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, January 19, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Zona Ann Niece was born on May 4, 1926, in Benson, Minnesota, the daughter of Edgar and Minnie (Langaard) Nelson. She grew up and received her education in the Benson and Willmar communities and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On June 8, 1946, Zona was united in marriage to Donald F. Niece and they made their home in Willmar. Zona worked as a homemaker and was employed with various jobs. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and active on numerous women's activities. She was also an member of the Willmar Area Senior Citizens and the Kandiyohi County Historical Society. Zona enjoyed sewing, gardening, flowers, reading, playing card games and being with her family and friends.

She is survived by her loving husband, Donald of Willmar; her three children, Larry Niece of Ham Lake, Barbara Freitag of Rice and DiAnn (and Roger) Buker of Waseca; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Delores Carlson.
