The original building was built in the early 1900's and was the residence of the Carlson family. Victor V. Nelson purchased the site and was converted into a funeral home in the mid 1920's. The business was sold to Courtney Ring Who operated it as the Willmar Funeral Home. In 1947, the Willmar Funeral Home was sold to the Peterson family. This building and site has been renovated and remodeled each decade to provide modem and efficient accommodations. Peterson Brothers Funeral Home is conveniently located just off of US Highway 12 and 7th Street SW on the west edge of downtown Willmar.
The Green Lake-Spicer Funeral Home, constructed in 1989, is located on Highway 23 just North of Spicer, from land that was purchased from Allen Latham and the late Frank Morrell.
The Atwater Funeral Home was purchased from the Holm Brothers in 1966, located at 201 3rd Street South in Atwater. The Atwater Funeral Home is now operating from a new facility and site built in 1996, which is located two blocks from Hwy.12, South of the Atwater Ford dealership.
The Sunburg Funeral Home, purchased from Adolph Dahlquist in 1964, was located next to the Martin Hardware Store. A new facility was built in 1996, next to the fire station and directly across the street from the old faci lity on Central Avenue in Sunburg.
